Helping to reduce possible contamination of Covid-19 as it is stated to remain on clothing for hours. Coronaviruses on surfaces and objects naturally die within hours to days. Warmer temperatures and exposure to sunlight will reduce the time the virus survives on surfaces and objects. Normal routine cleaning with soap and water removes germs and dirt from surfaces. – CDC
The Clean Slate Project consists of a shuttle bus turned mobile laundromat.
What problems does this solve:
Reducing landfill in our communities as individuals without homes have no place to clean soiled clothing.
Eliminating the need for a continued cycle of disposable clothing.
Affirming dignity to the owners of the clothes; helps them have a greater sense of belonging and feeling human.
This mobile unit will be renovated and comprised of multiple washing machines, dryers, a WiFi cafe and hygiene products. Individuals in need will be able to wash and dry their clothing for free. They will also be able to utilize and advance their technology skills while waiting on their clothing to be cleaned.
